Ipod touch calendar sync with Outlook seems to create "corrupted" appointments

By maho - Posted on 19 May 2008

I've spent way to much time trying to understand why some calendar appointments failed to (air)sync to my WM6 phone and I was unable to see those appointments using outlook web access (OWA). After some trial and error I managed to find out which appointments that failed and it struck me, all the failed appintments were created after I bought my Ipod touch.

We are using an exchange 2007 STD server which allows us to activesync our mobile devices from where ever we want, everything except calendar sync worked just like it should. If I connected my Windows Mobile device directly to the exchange server the entire sync would fail and if I connected through a client access server (CAS) I would get all appointments except from the once created on my touch, the CAS or no CAS problem is unrelated to this issue but I thought I should mention it since I could not google my way to anyone else with that problem.

Back to my problem and solution, or acctually I have no real solution and I don't really have any hard evidence that this problem acctually was caused by the touch, but I can create corrupted items simply by creating a new appointment on my touch and use itunes to sync it with outlook so I thing it is safe to say that the Touch or iTunes has something to do with this. My simple solution to this was to recreate the appointments using outlook instead of the Touch and never again use the Touch to create new appointments.
